Moths And Birds

Had the Robinson on last night in the front garden, but it was the first time I didn't get up before dawn and collect up any moths resting around/outside the trap. It wasn't a great catch, with only 35 moths, though this one was a lovely first for the garden....

Burnished Brass- a bit overdue really!

The rest of the catch was made up of: 6 Flame Shoulders, 2 Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing, 2 Common/Lesser Rustic, 2 Silver Y, 2 Riband Wave, 2 Common Footman, 2 Shuttle-shaped Dart, 2 Brimestone and singles of: Jersey Tiger, Heart and Dart, Uncertain, Buff Footman, Dingy Footman, Single-dotted Wave, Willow Beauty, Buff Arches, Pebble Prominent, Nut-tree Tussock, Large Yellow Underwing, Small Fan-footed Wave and Double Square-spot. There were also two Mother of Pearls and a Small Magpie.

Jersey Tiger

Mid morning I paid Blackhole Marsh a visit, it looks even more yummy, but is quite hard to work now as there are so many places waders can hide and so much mud to look at!! This is looking north...

Mud mud mud!!!

It was a rewarding visit with a nice fresh juv Yellow Wagtail in amongst the mass of Pied Wags - one day it will be a Citrine! Also three Ringed Plover (1 ad, 2 juvs) and 16 Dunlin.

One more highlight today, while at a BBQ in town tonight I spotted a moth resting on a garden shed, it was my first Marbled Green! Cool!

Night night all....
